Like A Virgin (Madonna)

マドンナのセカンド・アルバム「Like A Virgin」を聞いています。お目当ては、アルバム・タイトルにもなっている「Like A Virgin」という曲です。

「Like A Virgin」との出会いは、映画「ムーラン・ルージュ (2001・Moulin Rouge)」でした。劇場支配人の男が、「彼女は身を清めているのです、バージンのように (like a virgin)」と言ってこの曲を歌うのです。どう考えても女性向きの曲なのですが、それを野太い男が歌う。ギャップがたまらなく面白いのですね。

※「Like A Virgin」は多少ギャグが入っていますが、この劇場支配人が歌う「The Show Must Go On」は素晴らしい歌曲です。

そんなわけで、「ムーラン・ルージュ」にやられて以来、「Like A Virgin」のオリジナルを探していたのです。

オリジナルの「Like A Virgin」は、すごくポップで、映画版とは全くの別物。逆に、映画版はよくぞここまでの編曲・アレンジをほどこしたものだと感心してしまいました。どちらも耳に残る素晴らしい曲です。
